I’m looking for any information on the wind up music mechanisms which are found inside jewelry boxes (like the ones with the spinning ballarina inside), I would like to mainly know about the cylinder music mechanism (especially about how small you can actually get them, the length of time the tune it plays and its rate of rotation ie: to spin the ballerina) rather then the disc ones, any information would be greatly appreciated (I’ve come to my wits end on searching for more then a simple explination lol) Thanks
Any websites, videos, books etc. would help, i just need to understand the physics behind a music box.
if you don’t know the answer, don’t comment.

Music boxes evolved out of the mechanisms used in watches. And they both owe their existence to the venerable art of the clockmaker, which can actually be traced to wind up spring-loaded mechanisms used by the ancient Greeks.
um, im really sorry but i really dont know
